DEEPSEA D-BLUE

DEEPSEA D-BLUE
Blaken | Deepsea D-Blue big

The watchmaker's art shows its best and toughest side in the Rolex Deepsea D-Blue. This watch easily achieves what was long thought impossible: with every one of its 44 mm in diameter, it withstands tonnes of pressure at depths of over 3000 metres and remains 100 % waterproof.
Even the colours of the watch tell a story, the graduation on the watch face reflects the changing colours of the ocean during a dive, from the bright blue water surface through to
the black of the deep. And the green of the "Deepsea" lettering is a homage to the submarine in which Titanic director James Cameron conquered the depths of the Mariana Trench on his record dive.
An indestructible Blaken with a case that is up to eight times harder than Rolex watch steel. Perfect for adventurers, victors and boundary crossers – the Rolex Deepsea D-Blue.

BREGUET – CLASSIQUE HORA MUNDI 5727

THE BREGUET CLASSIQUE HORA MUNDI 5727

by Par Fabrice Eschmann

Breguet unveiled the Hora Mundi 5717 in 2011 with its hand-engraved map of America, Europe, Africa or Asia and Oceania on the dial. The brand has released a more classical but equally stunning version of the model for 2016.
It’s called Classique Hora Mundi 5727 and features the signature instant time zone system with memory. Unlike a traditional GMT watch, this piece has no subsidiary display but just a pair of hour and minute hands. The mechanical memory with heart-shaped cams can be set to remember two different time zones. Press the pusher at 7 and the hands jump from one to the other and automatically take the day/night and date markers with them.
The dial features a Clou de Paris engraving in the centre as well as a “flammé” and “panier” pattern in the day/night indicator at 4.

URWERK – THE TEXTURE SHOCK

URWERK – THE TEXTURE SHOCK

By Sharmila Bertin

Two mastodons on the velvet-covered wooden display tray seem ready to do battle. A spiky bearing, eye-catching solid skull, intimidating teeth, shiny eyes…My imagination’s running away with me. But, upon closer inspection, my daydreams may well be very real. You just have to look carefully at these two architectural pieces by Urwerk, the UR-105 T-Rex and UR-210 Clou de Paris models, to see their predatory, reptilian and rare side and uncover a pair of dinosaur watches from the 21st or 22nd century.
The thing that really starts your mind ticking is the architecture and texture of both cases. They’re edgy and covered in sharp scales like the tapered body of a large reptile yet despite their aggressive physique, neither of these models “bite”. On the contrary, both the hand-patinated copper armour on the UR-105 T-Rex and the triangular edges of the black DLC-coated titanium and steel UR-210 Clou de Paris are soft to the touch.
Their sheer size may grab your attention on the tray but they really roar to life when they’re wrapped around the wrist: the 39.5mm wide by 53mm long T-Rex and 43.8mm by 53.6mm Clou de Paris settle comfortably onto the arm with their wide black alligator or fabric straps whose chunky mesh brings the “stud” pattern to mind.
UR-105 T-Rex takes its name, or rather surname, from the Tyrannosaurus Rex, the “tyrant lizard king”, a formidable biped predator over 4m tall that lived during the Cretaceous period. Urwerk was inspired by its huge head whose skin has a ribbed look. The case is covered in 3D copper scales lying concentrically. Various treatments create the metal’s patina: micro-beading, micro-sandblasting and oxidation. Rather than a hungry grin, at the bottom of the watch the T-Rex wears a U-shaped display showcasing the hours and minutes fuelled by the self-winding UR-5.02 calibre.

The UR-210 Clou de Paris model is a mastodon that’s far easier to tame. Its edgy skull is only partly covered in thinner and smaller scales carved out using the traditional Clou de Paris pattern. Its self-winding UR-7.10 calibre brings to life vagabond hours and retrograde minutes all rimmed with Super-LumiNova.

ZTE Axon 7 review

ZTE Axon 7 review now includes final benchmarks and a recommended badge due to its design, specs and performance at a reasonable price.

ZTE Axon 7 is a new Android phone with a sleek design, powerful specs and a reasonable price that challenges the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and rumorediPhone 7 in its dual SIM, unlocked form.

That explains the confusing name of this successor to the ZTE Axon Pro (ZTE Axon Elite in the UK), which has skipped right over the ZTE Axon 2 through ZTE Axon 6 in between last year and now.

Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are the best selling smartphones in US

Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

iPhone 6s front

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge's reign as the most popular smartphones in US in the three months ending May was short lived, as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus climbed to the top of the sales chart in the second quarter of 2016. Perhaps it's not all doom and gloom for Apple's flagships.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus accounted for 15.1 percent of the smartphones sold in Q2, while Samsung's flagships only made up 14.1 percent of sales, according to a new report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech. Previous figures were 14.6 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

Apple is well represented at the top, as the iPhone SE comes right after the Galaxy S7 line with 5.1 percent of sales. The iPhone lineup as a whole actually gained ground in US year-over-year, rising to 31.8 percent from 30.5 percent market share.

Meanwhile, Android dropped to 65.6 percent from 66.1 percent a year prior. Windows followed a similar trend, dropping to 1.6 percent from three percent in Q2 2015. Interestingly enough, so-called "other" platforms actually rose in the charts, to 1.1 percent from 0.4 percent market share.

The Kantar Worldpanel ComTech report warns that iOS' rise may not continue in the third quarter, as iPhone sales typically decrease in the months prior to the release of new flagships. Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 7 generation early next month, while a successor to the iPhone SE, which is enjoying "strong demand", should come later down the road.

The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are also the most popular smartphones in China, with the iPhone SE following from afar. In the UK, it is the iPhone SE which leads the pack, with the iPhone 6s coming in second place.

Lenovo Phab2 Pro

Lenovo Phab2 Pro

By | 04 Aug 16

So, what does the Lenovo Phab2 Pro, the first Project Tango phone, have to offer? It boasts a larger-than-life 6.4in Quad HD display (2560x1440), making it an inch taller and half an inch wider (179.8 x 88.6 x 10.7mm) than the already pretty hefty iPhone 6s Plus, and weighs almost double at 259g. It’s 10.7mm thick, boasts an aluminium unibody, and will be available to buy in two colours – ‘champagne’ gold and ‘gunmetal’ grey.

Now we’ve got the design out of the way, it’s time to move onto what’s really interesting about this smartphone – what’s on the inside. In terms of processing power, the Phab2 Pro boasts an octa-core 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor coupled with a whopping 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. If that’s not enough for you, then you’ll be happy to know that the Phab2 Pro also features a Micro-SD card slot to expand the built-in storage of the smartphone by up to 256GB. It also has a huge 4050mAh battery to power all that technology, and features 2.4x ‘turbo charging’ so you won’t have to wait for hours for it to charge.

The smartphone also has three built-in microphones and Dolby Audio Capture 5.1 support, providing users with the ability to capture 5.1 channel surround sound audio complete with spatial capture and noise reduction. This provides videos and audio recordings with higher quality audio than with many other leading smartphones.

However, it’s in the camera department that the Phab2 Pro really comes into its own, as that’s where most of the Project Tango tech is housed. There are a whopping four cameras on the Phab2 Pro – a front facing 8Mp camera capable of 1080p video, along with a main rear-facing 16Mp camera capable of 2160p video, a depth-sensing camera and a motion camera (both also on the rear). As explained above, the special rear-camera setup enables positional tracking capabilities, along with motion tracking, depth perception and area learning, making it possible for the Phab2 Pro to analyse and map your environment, and even detect surfaces and obstacles.

Pendragon's School of Real Magic, Witchcraft and Wizardry are an independent magical order based in Cornwall, UK. Our sigil is the Sea Eagle, a large and magnificent bird of prey which has been endangered in the UK for decades but  is currently making a comeback to coastal areas such as Scotland and around the beautiful wild and windswept Cornish headlands. Soaring high above the clifftops and swooping down to dip its talons into the salt spray the Sea Eagle is a bird that embodies the splendor of life itself, far sightedness, talent and tenacity. It is an inspirational bird, and a proud and fitting emblem for our school and students.

At Pendragon's School of Real Magic, Witchcraft and Wizardry we aim to show our students practical ways in which they can discover the awe inspiring power of real magic. We hope to ignite a passion for creating real magic spells and using witchcraft as a powerful catalyst for creating a new and more successful life.

McTavish International Academy Of Magical Sciences

McTavish International Academy Of Magical Sciences

View from McTavish Academy grounds on the shore of Loch Ness.

The most preeminent and exclusive school of magic on Earth located in the magical highlands of Scotland on the shores of the mystical and picturesque Loch Ness. The entire academy, including the students. are invisibly cloaked via powerful magicks. The school was founded in 1333 by one of the most famous and powerful Sorcerers of all time, Ian McTavish. He was born in Inveraray, Scotland in 1142 from a long line of magical practitioners, including hereditary witches, that extended back to the building of Stonehenge. He was a child prodigy of magic and quickly advanced his skills to Wizardry and eventually became a top flight Sorcerer. His magicks became so powerful that he was able to reverse his aging process and stay forever young. Today he is still the immortal Headmaster of the MIAMS and is generally thought to be one of the most powerful persons to wield magic on Earth. He started the magical school to forge an enchanted path of goodness around the Earth. He wished to shape countess generations of good people to wield magic as a force of righteousness in the eternal fight against evil. It was the first school of it’s kind, and spawned a handful of other magical institutions around the Earth.

The academy is open to those who pass a test of magical potential. Students mostly come from families with supernatural backgrounds. The school teaches various classes, that encompass witchcraft, wizardry, sorcery, and other paranormal studies, to those ages six and up. Generally those under 18 attend a normal school during the year and attend McTavish in the summer months although some choose to have their kids attend the school exclusively and then come home in the summer. This is possible since they also teach the same classes you’d find in a normal public school. Adults over 18 attend as a magical college to master various magical arts. The most gifted of students often end up becoming teachers and professors. A number of students live at the school to get the full experience or don’t have the magical means to make the daily commute from around the world. Each continent in the world, except Antarctica, has a handful of magical portholes to the Academy that allow for instant teleportation there which cuts the journey time greatly. However in the past decade the North American porthole had to be shut down due to constant detection by the US Paranormal Defense Agency. It seems a traitor, most likely a former Professor, or student, decided to help them out! In addition, each ocean has a porthole so water dwelling beings, such as mermaids, can attend it they wish. Although they mostly attend the Atlantean Academy Of Mystical Arts located in the undersea city of Atlantis in the Atlantic Ocean.

Manila is not only one of the overpopulated cities in the world. According to an articlepublished by the Philippine Star, Manila’s transport system is one of the most dangerous for women in the world. It is also the seventh worst city where women don’t feel safe to travel alone at night.

In 2011, Manila was listed as one of the most dangerous cities for journalists in the world. The list also included Cebu and Cagayan de Oro – all the killings and harassments wereattributed to the “paramilitary groups and private militias responsible were classified as ‘Predators of Press Freedom’”.

In the Brown-Wilson Group’s “2009: The Year of Outsourcing Dangerously.” Manila, Makati, and Cebu were ranked seventh. The risks include terrorism, diseases, and natural disasters.

Manila was also ranked 4th of the world’s most susceptible cities to natural hazards. They attribute this susceptibility to the “poor institutional and societal capacity to manage, respond and recover from natural hazards events.” This city was also second to Japanese cities, Tokyo and Yokohama, “due to both seismic activity and typhoon frequency” based on 2013 Swiss Reinsurance report. It was also ranked second of New York Post’s “The 10 Riskiest Cities to Live In”.

Manila also had the highest number of firecracker-related injuries from 2010-2012, according to the list released by the Department of Health.

Top 10 Wonderful Historic Monuments

Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is located in Pratu Chai subdistrict, Phra Nakorn Si Ayutthaya district, Ayutthaya province. The temple is not only a significant historical site, but also considered as the spiritual center of Thais for a long time. Situated within the royal palace grounds, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is the royal monastery and therefore no monk is allowed to reside at. However, the temple served to conduct ceremonies within the royal court, such as the ritual to drink an oath of allegiance. It is also regarded as an equivalence of Wat Mahathat in Sukhothai and a model for Wat Phra Sri Ratana Sasadaram (the royal temple of the Emerald Buddha) or Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok.

Somdet Phra Ramathibodi I or King U-thong commanded the construction of his royal house in this area, but when Somdet Phra Borom Tilokkanat succeeded the throne, the king considered moving the royal palace further north and converting the piece of land into a sacred ground which later became this temple. During the reign of Ramathibodi II, an enormous Buddha image was cast. The Buddha image of “Phra Sri Sanphetdayan” is 16 meters high and its surface is coated with 143 kilograms of gold. It had been enshrined inside the assembly hall until the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767 when the Burmese invaded and melted the gilded gold away. The Buddha image was seriously damaged, so in the Rattanakosin period Phra Bat Somdet Phra Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke installed the broken core of Phra Sri Sanphetdayan in a pagoda inside Wat Phra Chetupon Vimolmangkalararm Rajvoramahaviharn in Bangkok and named the pagoda “Chedi Sri Sanphetdayan”.

Somdet Phrachaoyuhua Borommakot was the first to command the temple restoration. During the reign of Phrabat Somdet Phra Chulachomklao Chao Yuhua (King Rama V), Phraya Boran Rachathanin the regional intendant found a considerably large collection of artifacts in the underground chamber of the pagoda, for example Buddha images and gold ornaments. Later Field Marshal P. Piboonsongkram assigned a committee to renovate the ruins until the temple regained its current condition.

This royal monastery plays an important role in history of art and archeology. The remaining debris still evidently portrays how glorious the country was. At the heart of the temple, there are three adjacent Ceylonese (or bell-shaped) pagodas situated on rectangular platforms. It is believed that these platforms were the base of royal houses in the Ayutthaya period. Currently, the temple is regarded as the symbol of Ayutthaya province.

 Machu Picchu, Peru.

Machu Picchu

7,000 feet above sea level and nestled on a small hilltop between the Andean Mountain Range, the majestic city soars above the Urabamba Valley below. The Incan built structure has been deemed the “Lost Cities”, unknown until its relatively recent discovery in 1911. Archaeologists estimate that approximately 1200 people could have lived in the area, though many theorize it was most likely a retreat for Incan rulers. Due to it’s isolation from the rest of Peru, living in the area full time would require traveling great distances just to reach the nearest village.

Separated into three areas - agricultural, urban, and religious - the structures are arranged so that the function of the buildings matches the form of their surroundings. The agricultural terracing and aqueducts take advantage of the natural slopes; the lower areas contain buildings occupied by farmers and teachers, and the most important religious areas are located at the crest of the hill, overlooking the lush Urubamba Valley thousands of feet below.

Hikers, tourists, and the early explorers describe similar emotions as they climb their way through the Inca Trail. Many call the experience magical. Glancing out from the Funerary Rock Hut on all the temples, fields, terraces, and baths seems to take you to another time. Blending in with the hillside itself, many say the area creates a seamless and elegant green paradise, making it a must for anyone who travels to Peru.

Computer science is far and beyond the most lucrative degree in the country — if you attend the right school.

Deciding among the top universities is tougher than ever, with many schools building out their tech programs in recent years. QS World University Rankings crunched the numbers to make the choice clearer.

QS's annual ranking highlights the best universities in the world for studying computer science and information systems, using data based on academic reputation (measured by a global survey that asked academics to identify the institutions where they believe the best work is currently taking place within their field of expertise) and citations per faculty.

"Generally, the more often a piece of research is cited by others, the more influential it is," QS notes.
